Smoke and Soot

Smoke and soot are the leftovers (residue) from fire. They are surprisingly destructive. They don’t do their damage quickly or dramatically the way fires do, but slowly and sometimes even invisibly as not all smoke is visible to the human eye.

Characteristics of smoke and soot:

• Most often greasy
• Occasionally powdery, in which case the residue slips into small cracks and inside drawers or between window panes
• Corrosive
• Smelly
• Moves from low to high places and warm to cool
