Call SERVPRO of Moorhead to Make Water Damage into a Memory, Not a Disaster

Water Can Sculpt Granite

Naturally sculpted towers, canyons, and mountain passageways are natural examples of water’s power. Some features resulted from slow and steady drips of water over centuries. Others from massive surges over a shorter time.

Imagine, then, what water can do to a house, commercial building, or public facility.

At SERVPRO® of Moorhead, we don’t have to imagine it. We have seen water damage of all types. More important, we have applied our experience and training to, as we vow, make the damage "Look like it never even happened."®

Categories of Water Damage

Categories are defined by the level of contamination and resulting threat to human health.

Category 1: “clean water”. It comes from broken water supply lines, tub or sink overflows, and broken equipment. Regardless of how clean, all water will become contaminated within 24 to 48 hours because water encourages mold growth. Mold spores are always present. No one can legally claim to be able to eliminate mold spores in residential or commercial structures.

Category 2: “gray water”. It may be clear or any other color. It contains a variety of contaminants that may be physical, chemical, or biological (usually all three). Contaminated water may cause health problems even in people who are exposed to it without drinking it. Gray water comes from storm surges, toilet bowls with urine, dishwashers or washing machines, and rain or snow. Like clean water, gray water gets more contaminated over time.

Category 3: “black water”. It may be any color, including clear. It contains bacteria, fungi, and other unsanitary agents as well as solid particles from animal waste, organic matter, or chemical waste. It includes seawater, water from lakes, rivers, streams, and rain or snow. It may come from toilets, sewage pipes, or ground water.
